UI UX Case Study: Maxim Application UI Redesign to Enhance Accessibility
Disclaimer: This is one of the projects as Dibimbing.id UI UX student exercise to learn about accessibility
Hello, My name is Shintia. Currently, I’m studying UI UX at Dibimbing.id Bootcamp. As I dive deeper into UI UX world, I have learned a lot of things such as design thinking, wireframing, usability testing, and many more.
One day, there’s one interesting topic that taught us about accessibility. Accessibility is very important to ease users using the application. In this session, our mentor Theodore Stephen choose one application as an exercise to enhance the accessibility, Maxim.
Role: Junior UI UX Designer that still looking for a job
Tools: Figma
Timeline: 3 day
Overview
Maxim is an international standard transportation ordering service, helping passengers and drivers find each other for more than 15 years in various countries. This application was chosen as an exercise to learn more about accessibility.
Before we start, our mentor tells us the process to enhance the accessibility:
- Understand the UX
- Dissection
- Make Information Hierarchy
- Redesign the UI
Step 1. Understand the UX
First, we understand the UX of each page. This section helps us to define the pain points on each page.
Step 2. Dissection
And then, we dissect each page and write down the pain points. This section helps us to summarize the pain points directly on-page, so we can make a better information hierarchy.
Step 3. Make Information Hierarchy
Third, we make a better Information hierarchy wireframe before we finalize the UI Redesign.
Step 4. Redesign the UI
Then, Redesign the application’s UI, based on the Information Hierarchy to enhance Accessibility.
Closing
Overall, reflecting on this process helped us to learn more about accessibility and UI Redesign, all the learnings that we go through hopefully can be used to improve our process next time. I’m open to feedback and suggestion to make a better application for user :)
Thank you for your time and attention
